Hello from sunny, fabulous Southern California! My name is Riley and I live and breathe the housing market. It’s been a nutty few years, but I can assure you, the smart money is doing just fine. They always do.
How do I know? Well, I’ve been buying and selling houses and other real estate (a bit of commercial work) and I have seen these things come and go.
Yes, I know, a realtor always says, “The time to buy is now!” but it’s really true if you know how to buy.
I’ve moved some major properties over the years – mansions in the hills, places on the water, everything in between. And I’ve helped a lot of young families get their start in real estate, usually friends of friends who needed straight advice.
Here’s my basic tip for all of them: Get money while it’s cheap and buy the right house for you. Even if rates rise (and they will), you can always find a good place to buy and hold for the long term.
See, as money gets expensive home prices have to fall to compensate. Just about the only time I have ever seen this rule violated was during the boom times, and we know how that turned out!
Now we’re into the bust and, from my perch, the best is yet to come for willing buyers with smarts. My blog is all about finding the best mortgage financing and then making the right choices in the right areas (location, location, location!) – for you. You can be a buyer (or a seller) in any market, if your goals are crystal clear.
My goal? I like to make money! (Ha!) But I also like to help people make the best decisions they can for the long term, and real estate is absolutely a long-term life choice.
